Get Involved
Join us in creating and maintaining Hoover’s strong community. Join our PTO meetings, or volunteer for a committee, planning events, in our library, or more.
All volunteers at the school must have an up-to-date CORI and be registered with The Bridge. Don’t forget this includes “one-time” opportunities such as guest readers or holiday parties. Even if you are not sure if you will be able to volunteer at all, it is better to do it now and be set for the year! Register for the Bridge
Volunteer opportunities
Library Volunteer
Help our students start reading and love books! Our library is 100% volunteer run. When you volunteer, you’ll be checking in/out books, reshelving books, helping students find books, and reading out loud to the students (depending on the class.
PTO Event Committee
Join the event committee and help us organize the fundraisers and community events that help make Hoover the amazing community it is. Events can include the Book Fair, Holiday Bazaar, Fun Run, Spirit Day and more.
Garden Committee
Combine our beautiful outdoor space with Hoover’s educational curriculum. This committee is in charge of working with teachers to see how we can use our outdoor garden space in their curriculum. This is a new committee, and we’re excited to see how it grows.
Break Room + Teacher Appreciation Week Coordinator
Help us show our Hoover teachers + staff how much we appreciate them! The Break Room + Teacher Appreciation Week Coordinator helps ensure that the break room is staffed year round by asking each grade to contribute on a specific month. And then coordinating gifts and luncheons during teacher appreciation week.
Room Parent
Every class needs 2 parents to volunteer as room parent. Some of the responsibilities are sending messages to the families in your child’s class about PTO + school events, run special enrichment activities in the class (e.g. crafts), and coordinating teacher gifts.
DEIB
DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) aims to foster an environment where differences are celebrated from a strengths-based perspective, personal biases and privileges, as well as systemic disparities, are acknowledged and addressed head-on, such that everyone can be their authentic self and develop to their full potential in a cohesive and supportive community.
Executive Board
We aim to have co-volunteers for each board position to share the work and ensure continuity of the PTO.
President
The President leads meetings, plans events, and coordinates agendas. They appoint committee leaders, organize volunteers, choose a representative for city-wide PTO meetings.
Vice President
The Vice President fills in and collaborates with the President as needed and supports the PTO in its leadership duties. They also coordinate classroom room parents.
VP of Finance
The VP of Finance creates and submits an annual budget. They report on the budget and ensure all committee leads have and know about their budget requirements. They also manages all reimbursement requests.
VP of Communications
The VP of Communications notifies members of meetings, maintains officer + position records, and keeps official meeting minutes. They collaborate to maintain an updated website, social presence, and email communications.
