Winthrop Events and Activities
2025/26 School Year PTO Events and Activities
Throughout the year, Winthrop School PTO sponsors community-building events for our school families. Our yearly events include:
| Monthly Winthrop Wednesday | Every month the PTO works with a local restaurant or shop to set up a fundraiser. Families get a night out (or take out in) and the Winthrop PTO raises money! These are announced every month in the Winthrop Express. |
| Welcome to Winthrop! | Calling all kindergarten and new families! Come and meet your classmates and learn what it means to be a Winthrop Wildcat. We’ll play games, eat pizza, and celebrate the beginning of a new year. |
| Fourth and Fifth Grade Fall Celebration | Warlocks and ghouls, it is time to start haunting! Fourth and fifth graders are invited to celebrate in or out of costume at our annual fall celebration. There will be games and treats, magic and a monster mash. Booooo! |
| Turkey Trot | All grades participate in this fun, non-competitive turkey trot! Held the Wednesday before Thanksgiving break, all students take a trot around the field with music and the support of community caregivers. All are welcome! |
| Holiday Bazaar | The best gifts are selected with care and we’ve seen some pretty careful kids over the years. Our holiday bazaar allows Winthrop students to shop in the All Purpose Room, choosing gifts for their friends and loved ones. The price tags are low but the thoughtfulness runs high. |
| Kindergarten and First Grade Dance Party | We’ve seen those dance moves on the playground, now it’s time to bring them to the party! Kindergartners and first graders are invited to the Winthrop Dance Party. With a DJ calling the songs, it will fun to show your own personal style. We can’t wait to play your favorite song and get moving together! |
| Second and Third Grade Game Night | It’s game night! Second and third graders are invited to bring their own games or play with ours. The All Purpose Room will be transformed into one gigantic game room. Move from table to table, trying something new, or stay in one spot all night perfecting your skill. It’s all up to you! |
| Spirit Day | Calling all Winthrop Wildcats! Spirit Day celebrates the progress of all students throughout the year through a chance to come together at the Melrose Common and enjoy a day of games, community building, and laughter. |
| Winthrop Talent Show | Who’s got talent? You do! Come and show off all of the moves you’ve mastered over the year as a Winthrop student. The Winthrop Talent Show is a Melrose tradition, complete with dance moves, singing troupes, and any thing you’d like to show your style! |
